Former Manchester United and Wales player Clayton Blackmore needed hospital treatment after being involved in a serious road accident near Coventry last night.

Blackmore has now returned home but has deep cuts across his stomach and badly swollen hip after the car he was travelling in went into the back of an articulated lorry.

"I don't think it has really dawned on me quite how serious it could have been," said Blackmore.
